Meet Dr. Byrd and StepWell

Dr. Berry Byrd is a podiatrist trained in forefoot and rearfoot surgery. He began his academic journey at Alabama A&M University, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He then attended Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine before completing his residency in Chicago in 2021. Since then, he has practiced as an attending physician in the Detroit metropolitan area.

His business, Byrd Health Care, operates as StepWell Foot and Ankle Specialists. The three words in Byrd Health Care reflect the foundation of his practice: Byrd represents the physician behind it, Health represents the field he serves, and Care represents his approach to every patient.

Dr. Byrd believes the doctor-patient relationship should be a partnership. He strives to create a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable speaking openly, asking questions, and sharing their concerns. Through listening and building trust, he works with each patient to develop a care plan that reflects their needs.

His commitment to care extends into the community. Dr. Byrd enjoys participating in community health fairs, helping people better understand their foot and ankle health, and connecting with the community he serves.
